[ and sure enough, before long she knocks, before stepping through the door and closing it behind herself. minako grins at the sight of yukari, ears perking up and fangs showing, before closing the distance and sprawling onto the couch alongside her. ]

[ yukari, for her part, is an exhausted lump on the couch, "blessed" with reindeer antlers, ears, and a tail this triple moon. 'tis the season.

one of those ears swivels toward the door when she hears it close and after minako joins her on the couch, she loops an arm around her waist to pull her in close. she isn't sure if it's the moonlacing or the company that makes her feel warm and tingly all over, but yukari grins back all the same. ]

Hey. Sorry if I kept you waiting.

[ minako giggles a bit, leaning in to kiss the corner of yukari's mouth as she puts an arm around her in return. the moonlacing is definitely nice. her tail swishes behind her, idle. ]

You're fine. Promise. These are cute... [ and she pokes gently at one of yukari's ears, a little curious cat noise leaving her throat. ]

What'd you get? [ whats for dinner ]

[ her ear twitches involuntarily at the contact, causing yukari to snort low in annoyance. ] I dunno about cute.... They hear everything even when I don't realize there's a sound. It's weird.

And I got Chinese. Or I guess it wouldn't be called Chinese since...you know, I'm too tired to figure that out right now. [ she isn't too tired to rub little circles on the small of minako's back, though. ] There's a lot of it since I know how you get during Cordis. Go for it whenever you want.

...but maybe wait a little bit. [ it's ear scritch time for cat gf now. ]

[ a low purr rumbles steadily from her chest and through her body as yukari rubs her back. she tilts her head up and against yukari's hand at the contact to her ears, eyes slipping closed. ]

Mmm, okay... food can wait a little. [ she reaches up to grasp one of yukari's antlers loosely, tucking her face against her girlfriend's neck to trail light kisses and gentle bites. ]

[ the purring had been weird at first (who has a girlfriend who purrs when you're cuddling in the morning?), but now? it was pretty cute if she was being honest. and distracting, especially when they're pressed this close together during triple moon and there is only one thing on her mind. ]

How-- [ her voice catches when minako bites a sensitive part of her neck, ] how long is "a little"?

[ ugh, she came here to try to have a serious conversation and maybe seek comfort, but the sound of yukari's voice like this--minako shudders, one hand trailing over her hip, above that deer tail. ]

However long you want... but I wasn't just making a lame excuse to come over, you know!

[ not that she seems. particularly interested in pulling away or slowing down. ]

[ yukari doesn't seem too interested in pulling away either, reacting to that shudder by sliding her hand underneath minako's shirt and up her back while leaning into the hand on her hip. although she's more than okay with giving in to her iris urges, maybe having sex on her couch before talking about something important wasn't the best move. she'd slow down so they could get their heads back on straight.

in a second. ]

I know. [ yukari makes a pleased sound deep in her throat for the sole purpose of egging minako on when she hits another sensitive spot. ] Maybe we can pick this back up after we talk? And then if you still want, we can go for how long I want.

[ that noise definitely does what it's intended to, and minako's fangs scrape gently along yukari's neck, almost hard enough to draw blood but careful not to break the skin. she shivers again before finally pulling back, touching her forehead to yukari's, keeping her hands on her hips. her heart pounds in her chest, slit pupils now wide and overtaking most of the red irises, face flushed. she just nods to agree with the suggestion.

she's at least focused on trying to have the conversation now. ]

It's... kind of a stupid thing, especially when we're like this. And maybe it's not something you wanna hear about, I just... [ she lets out a breathy chuckle, mostly genuine, despite the subject ] I miss her, Yukari. All the time.

[ she knows she doesn't need to say who. ]

[ yukari doesn't say anything, her own heavy breathing filling up the space between them. she doesn't need to confirm who minako means because they talk about her in roundabout ways in almost every conversation.

after a long moment, she responds, ]

It's not stupid. You know I always want to listen to you. [ she smooths the hair from minako's face, kissing her cheek. ] Being apart from someone you love is hard, you know?

[ it's an ache that crops up when you least expect it: on the monorail to class, in the dining hall surrounded by your friends, on set between takes, in the middle of a sunny afternoon when you swear you see her shadow beside you and her laugh in your ears. and you miss them every minute of every day and it's so much and you just want to stop but then aigis talks some sense--.

yukari swallows a feeling akin to guilt and moves her hand from minako's ear to her cheek. ]

I understand why you'd miss her.

[ she cracks a smile at the affection and reassurances, eyes leaving yukari's face for a second. finally she leans in to kiss her cheek. ]

You know how I still feel about her doesn't mean anything about us, right? I love you, I love her, they're... separate things. Promise. [ she leans her head slightly to the side against yukari's hand, closing her eyes, ears flicking. ]

I just... everything reminds me of her, and it hurts. There's always something to remind me of all of them, but especially her. It's love, it's the longing, yeah, but... [ the guilt. her ears flatten. ] ... Did she ever tell you what her last words to me were?

[ and for the first time, yukari sounds confident and assured of her next words, affectionately rolling her eyes and huffing a laugh. ] Of course I know they're separate. We've been through way too much for me not to know. I love you, dork, so you don't have to promise anything.

[ she pauses, her soft expression turning into a slight frown. ]

But she never told me. I don't think she's ever told anyone, if I'm honest. She...doesn't like to talk about Graduation Day. [ none of them did, but it was neither here nor there. ] What did she say?

[ minako smiles at that, not opening her eyes yet. but the smile falters as she has to prepare to say what comes next. ]

She told me not to worry. That she'd always protect me. And then... [ she shakes her head, almost imperceptibly, drawing in a tight breath. ] The last thing she ever said to me, that I ever heard, and I let it be... a promise I knew she couldn't keep. I don't... I keep thinking about what that must have done to her, and I...

[ she's not crying, but she's definitely upset, taking advantage of the offered comfort and enjoying the intimacy. ]

[ yukari chews her bottom lip, evaluating how much she should say. she hated talking about minako like she was dead. even if she was back at home, she wasn't here. here she was warm and alive and posed along with featherman victory and stole blankets. she wasn't a headstone yukari visited to tell about her week.

they've already said so much that's gone unspoken already. may as well keep going.

she traces minako's cheekbone with her thumb and resumes rubbing circles on her back. ] I don't know if I told you, but...Aigis got your wildcard powers since she was the one you wanted to protect you the most.

[ despite the years, something in her stomach turns. she knows that's the truth, that aigis had pledged her life to protect minako at all costs, but yukari always wondered how things would have been different if she'd been honest with her feelings from the start.

a moot point, now, along with many other hypotheticals that play out in her head. ]

At first, she was kind of a wreck. We all were. I mean, that's how the Abyss of Time was created in the first place. But Aigis has grown into herself so much. Even if she still doesn't get we're way past her calling me "Yukari-san". [ her attempt at a light tone sounds more wistful and sad than she'd like. ] She's active with the Shadow Operatives now and--well, she helps protect all of us, including you. She....she kept her promise.

[ she remembers yukari telling her that it was bad for aigis for a while, that she could barely function. but the idea that aigis got her wild card after she died? minako feels pride, love and guilt swirling in her chest, even if she stretches a bit, back arching at the attention that she's receiving. but there's no mistaking the smile that spreads across her face as all of that sinks in.

she finally opens her eyes, meeting her gaze. ]

... I'm glad it's in good hands. I hope it... means something better to her than it did to me. [ she's realized that her interpretation of the role she was given by the velvet room has... really fucked her up. ] And she was still calling me Minako-san at the end, you know. So that's never going anywhere for you either. My girl's too formal for that.

[ one of her hands slides up from yukari's hip, resting on her cheek. ]

And... this isn't me trying to change the subject, but--I've been talking a lot about my problems lately, but you know you can still talk to me too, right? About anything.

[ she can't help smiling back, happy that she was able to give at least some hope, however small. ] We lived together for an entire year and I told her every day she didn't have to add anything. At least all the teachers loved her because she was so polite.

[ her smile falters at that offer and yukari holds her breath for a fraction of a second before slowly exhaling. ] I know. It's just....

[ her insomnia, the panic attacks at midnight, she misses everyone so much all the time, what if she's broken, what if all of SEES was broken, why does this place keep shoving her dad in her face as if she can just reach out her hand to touch him, what's going to happen to her memories when she goes home (she doesn't want to forget even if it hurts), what if this place was starting to feel like home now, what'll happen to them when aigis gets here

what'll happen to her ]

You know how good I am with talking, [ yukari answers while leaning into the touch. ]

Then you don't have to. [ it comes automatically, and she presses her lips to yukari's to steal a quick kiss. ] I can just... be here. And we don't have to say anything at all. But... for any of it, no matter what, I will listen if you want me to, okay? Maybe I can't fix it, but...

[ she strokes a thumb over yukari's cheekbone, watching her face. ]

We can't do anything alone, you know? No one can. And that's okay.

[ yukari doesn't blink, doesn't breathe while minako talks. she isn't even sure she can breathe with how constricted her chest feels, full of a mixture of emotions that terrified her only a few months ago. ]

Yeah...yeah, that's okay. [ she touches her nose to minako's, smile back in place. ] I promise I'll talk to you about everything. I mean it. Even if it takes me a while, I--. Seriously, just....

[ she trails off, overwhelmed by the realization of how lucky she is, before saying quietly, ]

Thank you. [ and an unspoken 'i love you so much.' ]

[ she giggles, ears flicking, picking up on what went unspoken there. ]

I love you too, you know? It's a lot easier than you probably think. Especially when Iris has you acting like suuuuch a sweetheaaaart! [ she singsongs that, pressing her lips firmly to yukari's cheek with another giggle before starting to trail down to her neck. the hand on her hip begins climbing up her back. ]

Oh, my God, shut uppppp! [ she half-squeals, half-laughs the reprimand even as she tilts her neck to the side to give minako better access and shivers as that hand works its way up her back. ] I was being serious! See if I ever do that again!

[ yeah sure okay ]

Awww, you're gonnaaaa! [ minako practically feeds off of the energy of that squealed laugh, coupled with the moonlacing, laughing against yukari's skin. ] I was being serious too! Then I thought hey, that's enough serious, back to having fun with my beautiful model girlfriend who I love!

[ more little kisses and nips to her neck, gentle loving scrapes with those sharp teeth. minako decides to dispense with the teasing and starts pushing up yukari's top, pulling back just enough to give her a questioning look. even now, she wants the go-ahead before things go any further. ]

[ the smart remark that's on the tip of her tongue turns into a soft, heavy sigh at the first scrape to her neck. she has trouble handling this on a normal day, and triple moon only makes it even harder to ignore the urgent need iris brought on. the hand on minako's back stills, fingers already beginning to dig in to her skin as those sighs get louder.

when minako pulls away, yukari's twitchy reindeer ears swivel toward her and remain stock still, a surefire sign that she has her absolute full attention. understanding the unspoken question, yukari gives her a dangerous grin, leans in to press a kiss to the shell of her ear, and whispers, ]

Do whatever you want to me, Minako.
