Thanks. I don't get a chance to do this often so I can't guarantee it'll turn out as good as Aragaki-senpais's cooking. Then again, [ she sighs wistfully, ] what does?

[ there's a playful smirk on her face, and she kicks her feet idly, reaching out to poke one of yukari's cheeks. ]

I know, right? [ minako sighs. ] I do pretty well, though. And this'll be great.

[ she rolls her eyes at the poke and sticks out her tongue while grabbing bowls from the cupboard. ]

Flattery won't get you any more food, Minako.

[ as she spoons rice, it's obvious she's lying because minako does indeed gets more food. ]

You'll have to cook for me next time.

Maybe not, but it's fun!

[ yukari...that's cute.

minako hums, grabbing a pair of chopsticks and taking the bowl from yukari with a nod. ]

Thanks for the food. And I wouldn't mind that, Yukari! Guess I owe you now anyway, right? [ aaaand taking a bite, with an appreciative mm. ] Really is good, you know.

[ while yukari approaches food with enthusiasm, she doesn't immediately begin eating. she just...stares at minako, expression unreadable with the smallest of smiles on her face. almost as if she's committing the moment to memory.

and as quick as the look is there, it's gone. ]

I'm glad, [ she says before offering up her thanks and taking a bite. ] Comfort dinners are supposed to be good.

[ she catches it, of course. minako almost asks her what's up, but just smiles. ]

Oh, is that why... Yukari, you didn't have to go out of your way. [ it's not reproachful, or guilty, just kind of surprised. touched. ] Thanks.

You don't have to thank me, Minako. I know you'd do the same for me. [ she takes another bite. dang, this really had turned out good. nice job, self. ]

Oh, and I've got cookies for later! ...although, those are left over from Iris, but there's lots. Please eat them.

[ minako nods and grins, taking another big bite. ]

Just leave it to me, Yukari! [ she laughs. then something occurs to her, and she gives yukari a downright devious smile as she considers. this is such a mental image. ] ... Wait, were you stress-baking when you were...?

[ busted.

her voice is a barely audible mumble when she answers, ] I had to keep busy, somehow.

[ she starts laughing, she can't help it. ]

I did the same thing, last triple moon.

[ it takes a second for minako's words to sink in before she joins in the laughter. ]

Oh, my God, so it isn't just me! I tried everything, but baking was the only thing that helped. And I never bake, either.

[ yukari leans toward minako, bumping their knees in the process. ] What did you end up making during the triple moon?

I went pretty overboard. [ she giggles a little self-consciously, meeting yukari's eyes all the same. they're close, it's nice. ]

A cake, cookies, cupcakes, lemon tarts... plus croquettes, fried chicken, menchikatsu... like I said! Overboard.

Maybe a little bit overboard. [ so says someone who made five total batches of cookies (including two failed attempts). ] At least you had leftovers for a week or so, right?

Oh, for sure! I was sharing that whole time, too... Fox, Xion-chan, Shinjiro, Joker... my neighbors... [ she kind of stares into space for a second. ] There was so much food, Yukari.

[ she snorts and takes a few bites of their rapidly cooling dinner. ] It sounds that way. It's just like you to share everything you make with about 6 or 8 other people, too.

[ new world, same minako as always. ]

Hey, I cook plenty just for myself, you know! Not my fault I was Cordis hungry... [ she points with her chopsticks and makes a face, clacking them at her. pretty clear she's trying not to laugh, though. another couple of bites. ] But... thanks, I think?

[ yukari can't help giggling. after the briefest second of hesitation, she kisses minako on the cheek. ] You're welcome, I guess.

[ she leans back and busies herself with eating, the tips of her ears red. whenever minako wants to talk the real reason she's here, the floor is all hers. ]

[ minako flushes red at the kiss, not having expected it. she finally finishes her bowl, setting it aside. ]

So... [ she steps out of the kitchen and over towards the couch, dropping onto it. c'mon, yukari. ]

Back on what we were talking about before... I was kind of terrible to them, when I found out? I couldn't deal with it. On top of everything else, it felt like... [ she gestures, searching for the right way to phrase it. ] like fate was still toying with me, or something?

[ yukari spends some time putting dishes in the sink, just listening. ]

Yeah. [ she thinks back to the Abyss of Time and aigis being chosen as the new wildcard when yukari had desperately thought 'but i was there first. i knew her first.' ]

Yeah, I get that, [ she says while sitting opposite minako on the couch. ] Like there's one final joke you don't understand while everyone else thinks it's hilarious.

[ she still doesn't know about any of that you know, yukari. ]

... Yeah. [ minako nods. ] Shinjiro didn't know me from home, but... somewhere else. Same place some of the others were. I eventually thought... you know, he's from September anyway, so... it's been fine! Mostly. There's no getting that time back, but it's been okay. Just means I need to bring him out of his shell all over again.

But Mitsuru... I don't know. Maybe we could have gotten somewhere. She was trying, doing the best she could in that position, but it was right before the casino thing. And I couldn't handle what happened. So I just got drunk the first night, and by the time it was all over? She was gone.

[ nope, and it'll come up at the worst possible time because that's how it always works. ]

He did mention that he came from somewhere pretty rough when we ran into each other at the beach, but I didn't know anyone else had come from there.... Whatever work you're putting into getting to know him again is working, I think. [ he had offered to help out with the party without very little prompting, for starters. ] It's kind of cute how much of a softie he is.

With Mitsuru-senpai.... [ yukari rubs a hand across her mouth. ] You know how she is. She can get so awkward and then there was meeting you. I know she would have given you a chance if she was here longer.

[ there is a part of her story that concerns yukari moreso than her relationships with either shinjiro or mitsuru. brows furrowed, she asks, ] Drunk?

What she said actually wasn't bad, for Mitsuru. Just the situation, you know... [ she laughs awkwardly. ]

Yeah, I... I don't know. I was upset? I wanted to throw myself into the fun a little and forget what was bothering me, and the casino bars down in the Lightless didn't care. There was stupid magic stuff in some of what I ordered, which... wasn't great either, haha... [ and since it's important to affirm this: ] I haven't started drinking or anything! It was just a bad day.

...fair, [ she says after giving minako a long look. ] I'm not trying to judge you for it. Bad days happen. It's just that it doesn't sound like you, I guess.

[ sighing, ] Then again, the whole situation sounded like it was terrible so.... Anybody would've done the same.

[ don't mind if she just leans against you, yukari. it's fine. yeah. minako just wants to cuddle a bit!!! ]

I kinda just felt terrible the whole time... Tried it, didn't really like it, life goes on. Right?

Right. And who knows, maybe that Mitsuru-senpai will come back or she'll show up from our timeline. Either way, she'll be asking you to run away with her again in no time.
